Sweat itself doesn’t smell bad. It’s produced by sweat glands to regulate your body temperature. However, when sweat comes into contact with the bacteria naturally living on your skin, a chemical process occurs.

These bacteria break down the sweat into volatile compounds that create a strong, unpleasant odor.

This is the familiar "sweat smell" many people experience, particularly in the underarm area. It’s the combination of bacteria and sweat that results in body odor.

Perspiration is an essential process for our health and performs several vital functions in our body and therefore, we should see it as something good and very useful. We see 3 reasons:

First, perspiration helps regulate body temperature. When we exercise or are exposed to high temperatures, our body produces sweat to cool down. As sweat evaporates from the skin, it takes heat with it, which helps maintain an appropriate internal temperature and prevent overheating.

Second, sweating helps to eliminate toxins and unwanted substances from the body. Through sweating, small amounts of substances such as ammonia, urea and uric acid, which are by-products of metabolism, can be eliminated. In addition, perspiration also helps to clean the skin pores, which can prevent clogging and the formation of acne.

Finally, perspiration plays an important role in the balance of fluids and electrolytes in our body. Sweat contains water and minerals, such as sodium and potassium. When we sweat, we lose fluids and electrolytes, and this prompts us to replenish them by drinking water and eating the right foods. Maintaining a proper fluid and electrolyte balance is crucial for the proper functioning of our organs, as well as for overall health.

In short, perspiration is important to our health because it regulates body temperature, eliminates toxins and helps maintain fluid and electrolyte balance. Through this natural process, our body adapts and maintains optimal conditions for proper functioning.

Although we have seen in the previous questions that sweating is a natural, necessary and useful process for our body, there are some guidelines that can help you sweat less:

Wear clothes made of breathable fabric: the materials of many T-shirts are polyester, which is like an “all-inclusive luxury resort” for odor-causing bacteria from sweating. Instead, opt for clothing made of natural, breathable materials, such as cotton or linen. These allow better air circulation and help sweat evaporate more quickly, keeping you drier and more comfortable.

Avoid foods and drinks that stimulate perspiration: some foods and drinks, such as coffee, alcohol and spicy foods, can increase sweat production. Think of eating a spoonful of tabasco and just from that, you start sweating 😉.

Try to limit their consumption or avoid them if you notice they make you sweat more.

Maintain a healthy weight: being overweight can contribute to increased sweating, as the body needs to work harder to regulate temperature. Maintaining a balanced diet and exercising regularly can help you keep your weight under control and reduce excessive sweating.

Manage stress: Emotional stress can trigger a sweating response. Look into relaxation techniques, such as meditation, deep breathing or yoga, to manage stress more effectively and reduce the associated sweating.

These are two different types of products used to address different aspects of odor and perspiration.

An antiperspirant is a product specifically designed to reduce the amount of sweat produced in the sweat glands. It contains active ingredients, such as aluminum salts, which create a temporary coating on the skin and block the ducts of the sweat glands. By blocking these ducts, the amount of sweat released to the surface of the skin is decreased. This is something we at SIIL do not like because we have already explained the importance of sweat in our health.

On the other hand, a conventional deodorant is formulated to contain fragrances that mask the unpleasant odor of sweat... often creating an even more unpleasant combined odor. We don't like this option either, so we've opted for the third option.

SIIL's deodorant is formulated to address body odor caused by bacteria that break down sweat and transform it into other compounds, causing the well-known “sweat odor”. SIIL's deodorant contains micro-silver which is what attacks the bacteria and prevents them from transforming the odorless sweat into the smelly sweat we all know.

Although it is designed to last 2 to 4 days, you can use it daily without any problem. Also, since it is a small aluminum bottle (30ml), you can take it with you if that makes you feel more comfortable and confident.

The safety of antiperspirants and deodorants has been the subject of debate and study in relation to certain ingredients, such as aluminum and parabens. Let's take a closer look at the potential health-related issues:

Aluminum: aluminum is a commonly used ingredient in antiperspirants. Its main function is to temporarily block sweat gland ducts and reduce perspiration. There are concerns about the absorption of aluminum through the skin and its possible link to diseases such as breast cancer and Alzheimer's disease.

However, current scientific evidence has not established a direct connection between the use of aluminum-containing antiperspirants and the development of these diseases. Organizations such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the National Cancer Institute have stated that there is no conclusive evidence that aluminum in antiperspirants increases the risk of breast cancer.

Parabens: Parabens are preservatives used in many cosmetic products, including antiperspirants and deodorants. They are used to prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi in products and prolong their shelf life. However, there have been concerns about their possible interference with the endocrine system, as some studies have found traces of parabens in breast tissue and their ability to mimic estrogen activity.

Although there is no conclusive evidence that antiperspirants and deodorants are harmful to health, it is important to keep in mind that each person may have an individual sensitivity or reaction to certain ingredients.

If you prefer to avoid using antiperspirants and deodorants with aluminum or parabens, there are alternatives on the market, natural products or products free of these ingredients like SIIL, so you don't have to go far to find them 😉.

We have already mentioned it in the previous paragraphs, but SIIL is safe because it does not contain aluminum, parabens or other chemical ingredients that can irritate your skin or harm your health.

In addition, SIIL does not block the production of sweat, nor does it “plug” the sweat glands, which are so necessary to cool us, release toxins and regulate our internal systems.

SIIL has no scents to mask the odor of sweat.

Silver used in consumer products is classified according to its shape and size:

Metallic silver: metallic silver refers to silver in its elemental form, i.e. in its pure state. It is in the form of solid particles, usually in powder or flake form. Metallic silver is not coated or modified in any way. It usually has a larger particle size and is visible to the naked eye. This way of using silver is the usual way to use it in jewelry, cutlery, etc. It has been with us for many years and we know that it does not cause any problems.

Colloidal silver: Colloidal silver consists of silver particles suspended in a liquid, usually distilled water. These particles are much smaller than metallic silver particles and are in the nanometer size range. Colloidal silver particles are small enough to remain suspended in the liquid without settling.

Because they are such small particles, they can enter our body through the pores of the skin, etc. And there we can no longer be sure of its internal effects on our organism.

Ionic silver: ionic silver refers to silver ions dissolved in an aqueous solution. In this case, the silver atoms are ionized, releasing positively charged silver ions (Ag+). These ions are extremely small and are in the nanometer range. Ionic silver is highly reactive and can interact with other substances present in the medium.

So... what type of silver do we use at SIIL and why?

In SIIL we only use metallic silver, pure silver, we do NOT use colloidal, nanometric or ionic silver. SIIL only contains pure metallic microsilver, which has been with us for thousands of years, does not penetrate our skin and has been proven to be safe.

Silver has long been known to have antimicrobial properties. Silver particles interact with proteins and enzymes essential for bacterial metabolism, altering their function and causing their death or inhibition.

In SIIL, microsilver is used to control the growth of bacteria that break down sweat and generate the unpleasant odor. By inhibiting bacterial activity, microsilver prevents the formation of the volatile compounds responsible for odor.

If you have been using conventional deodorants for a long time, roll-on for example, ours works a little differently.

Let me explain:

First of all, it is in cream, that is, you have to take a small portion with your finger, something equivalent to the cream that you would give on your nose, for example.

It is a 30ml jar, it will seem small, but it will last you many weeks, more than 10, if you use it as we explained.

You will have to discover on your own body how often you have to use it, but the usual is between 2 and 4 days.

Wear light clothing and try to make it 100% cotton and avoid those kind of materials that favor the proliferation of bacteria and that are an “all-inclusive luxury resort” for them.

Since our deodorant does NOT block the production of sweat, it is possible that during a few days of use and depending on the deodorants and antiperspirants you have used before, it may seem that you sweat more. Don't worry, this is normal and there is no problem. The important thing is that the sweat does not smell.

If you have been using other deodorants or antiperspirants for a while, you will notice a difference. You may feel like you're sweating more if you've been using us for a few days. Don't worry. Give it at least 10 days to notice a difference.

Most commercial deodorants also contain antiperspirants that block sweat production, “clogging” the pores. SIIL is a deodorant, therefore, it does not block the production of sweat, what SIIL deodorant does is prevent it from smelling bad, attacking the bacteria that cause that problem. Nothing more. We do it this way because we respect our health and yours.

It is also important to check the type of clothing you are wearing, whether it is cotton or polyester and if so, try cotton and linen materials and you will see the difference.

Although SIIL's long lasting deodorant is a product tested with hundreds of people, and excellent results with thousands of customers, we cannot guarantee its effectiveness with 100% of people. Being a cosmetic product, depending on the use made by each person, their hygiene and physical characteristics, and even the type of clothing and fabrics used, we can not guarantee the performance in 100% of people, as there are variables that escape our product and therefore, we will not refund the money for this product, as it is a cosmetic product for personal hygiene.
